Feet you don't have to think about.

You notice it in small ways first. The edge of your heel drags on the bedsheet when you turn over. A sock catches on the way out of the drawer. You run a thumb across the back of your foot in the shower and feel a ridge that was not there last spring.

So you do what you have always done. The pumice stone in the shower, until your arm aches and the ridge is still exactly where it was. The metal file that was sharp for a fortnight. The cream every night that softens the top of it and never reaches the part that matters. The salon visit that looks perfect on Saturday and is back to the same by Wednesday. Every one of them buys you a few days, and then you are standing on the bathmat again wondering what you are still missing.

Imagine instead sitting on the edge of the bath for about as long as a phone call, moving your hand slowly across your heel, and watching the hard skin lift away as a fine pale dust. Nothing to press hard on. Nothing to book. You wipe your feet, pull your socks on, and the drag is simply not there any more.

SOLEA Silk 3 Pro is designed for exactly that.

Why the creams and the pumice stone stopped working

The hard skin on a heel is not dry skin sitting on the surface. It is compacted, built up in layers over years of standing and walking.

SOLEA Silk 3 Pro with its fine and coarse rollers

A cream works on the top of it. That is the whole problem — it softens what you can already reach and never gets down to the layers underneath, which is why your heels feel better for an evening and the ridge is still there in the morning.

A pumice stone rubs. It takes off a little at a time, in the shower, while the skin is soft and swollen, which is the worst moment to judge how much has actually gone. A metal file cuts, and on a curved heel a flat blade cannot keep even contact, so you take too much off one spot and nothing off another.

The Silk 3 Pro spins a mineral roller at around 2,000 RPM against dry skin. It abrades the compacted layer steadily and evenly, and because it rolls rather than cuts it follows the curve of the heel instead of skipping across it. There is no blade in it at all.

How you use it

SOLEA Silk 3 Pro box and handset
1

Charge it and pick a roller

Coarse for thick buildup and deep ridges, fine for everyday smoothing. The roller clicks in and out; both are in the box.

2

Glide, don't press

On dry skin, move it slowly back and forth over the hard areas. Let the roller do the work — pressing harder does not take more off, it just slows the motor.

3

Wipe, moisturise, done

Brush the dust away with the cleaning brush, wipe your feet and put a cream on if you like. Most people repeat it every couple of weeks.

Why this one and not another foot file

About five minutes

A pass over both heels takes about as long as a phone call, at home, whenever you want it.

No blade, no scraping

It rolls rather than cuts, so there is no edge to press too hard with and nothing to replace when it goes blunt.

Two grits in the box

Coarse for the buildup, fine to finish. Each roller gives around three hours of use before it needs changing.

What it does, and what it does not

What it will do

  • Take compacted hard skin and callus off heels, the balls of the feet and the edges, in one five-minute pass
  • Work on dry skin without soaking, taping or waiting
  • Keep working — the rollers are replaceable, so it does not go blunt and get thrown away
  • Let you stop booking a pedicure just to deal with hard skin

What it will not do

  • Treat a medical foot condition — it is a grooming tool, not a device
  • Stop hard skin coming back on its own; it builds up again and needs another pass every couple of weeks
  • Fix a split that has already opened — let that heal first
  • Be used on broken skin, wounds or anything painful to touch

We are a new brand. We have not sold hundreds of thousands of these and we are not going to print a review score we have not earned, so there are no star ratings or customer counts anywhere on this page. What is here is what the tool does, and a 100-day refund if it does not do it for you.

Questions people ask before buying

How often should I use it?

For most people a five-minute pass every couple of weeks keeps hard skin from building back up. Doing it more often than that is not better.

Does it hurt?

It should not. There is no blade — the roller abrades the hard, dead layer and glides over softer skin. If it stings, you are pressing too hard or you have reached live skin, so stop.

How long do the rollers last?

Around three hours of use each. The fine and coarse rollers in the box last most people several months.

How long does the battery last?

About 90 minutes of use on a full charge, over USB.

Wet or dry?

Dry, always. Wet skin swells and clogs the roller, and you cannot judge how much you have taken off.
