Which colour to pick

Onyx is matte black with a chrome bezel. Graphite is a warm gun-metal. Snow White is a flat off-white. All three are the same head with the same cartridge inside — the finish is the only thing that changes, and the collar is knurled metal on every one so wet hands can still grip it.

What the cartridge is made of

A sealed cylinder of activated carbon with scale-control media packed around it. Water enters at the collar, passes the length of the cylinder and leaves through the nozzle plate. Nothing is dosed into the water on the way through and nothing needs power.

Where it will not go

On a rainfall head plumbed straight into the ceiling, because there is no hose to unscrew. Everything that hangs on a hose takes it: the thread is the 1/2 inch fitting that British handhelds have used for decades.

Everything people ask before they order

Will the pressure change?

It goes up, not down. The plate at the front has more holes and each one is narrower, so the same litres per minute leave faster and hit harder. Up to 200% more pressure than a standard head, with nothing done to your plumbing. On a strong supply you may end up turning the tap the other way.

How do I put it on?

Three moves, none of them plumbing.

1Take the old one offGrip the collar where the hose meets the head and turn. It has never needed a spanner and it does not need one now.
2Put this one onHand-tight against the rubber washer already in the hose. Quarter of a turn past snug is plenty.
3Wake the filterHalf a minute of running water clears the carbon dust out of a new cylinder. Then it is a shower.
How fast will I see anything?

The water changes the first time you use it — that part is immediate, because you have changed what comes out of the head. Hair is slower. The lengths hanging on your shoulders were washed in unfiltered water for months and they stay that way; what you are waiting for is the new growth and a few weeks of washes without anything new being added. Four weeks is a fair look. 30 days is what you get to decide in.

3,476 on-topic British forum posts, read at sentence level

4.2%described frizz and tangles that no product settles
1.5%said it started when they moved house

Counted from public posts, not from a customer panel, and not a league table. Neither phrase was one of the terms the posts were found with, which is why these two are quoted and the larger numbers are not.

What if I am not happy with it?

Email loominouscontact@gmail.com and say so. We refund the order in full and send a prepaid label for the head. There is no form to fill in, no photograph to supply and nobody will try to talk you out of it. The window is 30 days from the day it arrives.

How often does the filter change?

Every three months for a household of two or three — about 10,000 litres through the cylinder. There is no light and no beep: unscrew the collar and look at it. It goes into the handle white and it comes out grey, and that grey is the argument. On the subscribe rung one arrives by post every 90 days for £22.95, which is £7.00 less than buying it on its own.

Delivery

Orders leave our UK fulfilment partner the next working day and land in two to four. Delivery is free and there is no minimum. A tracking number is emailed the moment the label is printed, so the first you hear of it is not the doorbell.

Questions before you order?

loominouscontact@gmail.com reaches a person, not a queue. Ask before you buy if you are not sure the head will fit what you have — a photograph of your hose end is enough for us to tell you.

The groundwork for skin and hair

Everything else in the routine is applied afterwards. This is the only step that changes what the rest of it has to work against.

What a first order actually looks like

Nothing here is a promise about anybody’s hair. It is what the order itself commits you to, which is the part a first buyer can actually check before they decide.

Nobody comes to the house

It arrives in a box, it goes on by hand, and the only tool involved is your own grip. If it will not shift, a tea towel round the collar solves it.

The money is not committed

30 days runs from the day it lands, not the day you ordered. Changing your mind inside that window costs you nothing, postage included.

The subscription is not a trap

Pause it, push the next one back or end it from the link in every reminder email. No phone call, no retention offer, no notice period.

You are not buying a softener

It will not stop a kettle furring. It works on what reaches hair and skin, in the last thirty centimetres before the water arrives.

The filter is the running cost, and that is all of it

£22.95 every 90 days on the subscribe rung, or £29.95 bought on its own. The head itself is covered for 3 years and is not a consumable.

What the cartridge is standing between

Four things arrive in the water at your shower head. One comes out of the ground, two come out of the pipes and one is put in on purpose.

Hardness

Calcium and magnesium that the water picked up underground, before anyone at a treatment works saw it. Roughly three in five British homes sit on it, and it concentrates the further south and east you go.

ON HAIR AND SKINIt films the hair shaft. Conditioner then sits on the film rather than in the hair, which is why a mask can be left on for twenty minutes and change nothing. Skin reads it as tightness in the two minutes after you step out.

Pipe metals

Copper and iron dissolved out of the pipework between the main and your bathroom. Older buildings give up more of it, and hot water pulls more than cold.

ON HAIR AND SKINCopper oxidises inside the hair and drags the tone sideways — the green cast that bleached and colour-treated hair gets and no purple shampoo fixes. Iron loads the strand until it hangs flat.

Chlorine

Dosed at the works so the water is still safe after several miles of pipe. It is doing its job right up until the moment it reaches your shower, where it has no job left.

ON HAIR AND SKINIt lifts the natural oil off the scalp and the cuticle. Colour goes faster. Skin that was already dry gets drier, and hot water accelerates all of it.

Sediment

Grit and rust shed by the mains and by the building's own pipework, small enough that you never see it in a glass.

ON HAIR AND SKINIt is abrasive against a wet cuticle and it settles on skin. It is also the simplest thing to verify: it is the reason a white cylinder comes out grey.

The head itself

One cylinder, about 10,000 litres

That is roughly 90 days for a household of two or three. Run it past that and you are showering through a spent cartridge, which is the same as not having one. The subscribe rung exists so that nobody has to keep the date in their head: a new cylinder lands every 90 days for £22.95, and an email warns you before it is sent.

The three finishes side by side

Built for the water that actually comes out of a British tap

Not a generic in-line filter with a shower head screwed on the end. The cartridge formula, the nozzle count and the collar thread were all chosen against mains water in this country.

The 30 days, in full

Written out rather than linked to, because the guarantee is the reason most people are willing to try a shower head at all.

It starts when it arrives

Not when you order, and not when it is dispatched.

Use it properly

Wash with it, for the four weeks. A cartridge left on the wall unused proves nothing either way.

One email ends it

Write to loominouscontact@gmail.com. No reason required.

We pay the postage

Both ways. A prepaid label comes back by email.

The refund is the full order

Including the Scrub & Brush set, which you can keep.
